How to Play King of the Trukk
During one our previous gaming sessions a new game was born. Joey V. and Rob were milling about during the "after dinner lets not play and think about how much pizza we just ate phase". Jordan left his ork army sitting on the edge of the table and a discussion came up. Just how many boyz can you fit in a trukk? Competitive shenanigans ensued.
The concept of the game is quite simple. Players alternate placing ork models on the trukk. When you run out of boyz to stack move on to bigger models. Place HQ models last so they feel more important. The first player to make the boyz fall is the loser. The winner gets the right to be called the king of the north...err trukk for the rest of the day!
The game is fast, simple, and fun!
Jordan only had a few orks this day and the game was a draw.
Doesn't that war boss look so proud though?
Ebay, Now With 100% More Gargantuan Squiggoth
My main man Carl the killer has been in a tight spot as of late thanks to the economy and jobs and all of that stuff. He has been selling off his orks for a while now but the time has finally come to part with the pride and joy of his force. This was the first large model any of us worked with. I fondly remember the look of horror on Carl's face when I pulled out my power drill and started making holes for the nails we used to pin Squiggy together.
You can see more pics of squiggy on ebay.
In other news the Mass Effect Marathon was a huge success! We topped the donation goal by 33% and had a blast doing it. If any of you stopped by we want to give you a big thanks for checking us out and look forward to doing it again next year!
*Update*
The high bidder for the Normandy model backed out after being unable to pay the amount he bid. We now have the model sitting around with no owner and still want to auction it off for charity. You can see the model in the images below or go strait to the marathon page to learn more by clicking here.

Battle Report: Tau Vs Orks
Tau Vs Orks 1500 points DoW / Annihilation from paul mehaffey on Vimeo.
It's a little late, but here is the featured battle from our Planetary Empires campaign. Tau Dan vs Warboss Jorkfist in Dawn of War with kill points. I think this may be the first battle report I have posted with two fully painted armies!
Most of the players are about five battles into the war and the major contenders are really starting to stand out. Tyranids are dominating in the majority of their games and the undefeated Joey V is way ahead of the pack with seven tiles on the map already. Speaking of the map, I am having mixed feelings about it for our campaign tracking. My biggest beef is that it just sits around taking up space. I think it looks nice and all but I could do the same thing with a piece of paper or a picture on the computer.
In other news, we submitted an application to run a table at Games Day. Our plan is to make a few small arenas no bigger than 2'x2' and have gladiatorial battles with independent characters of 200 points or less. The winner will stay to face the next challenger and those with the longest winning streaks will get some kind of prizes at the end of the day. We have done some testing with the idea and there were some truly epic battles. The games are short and sweet, so people won't be stuck at our table all day. You only need to bring one model so setup time is no issue and lots of people should be able to move through quickly. Hopefully we get selected and it will be a hit!
Next month half of our players are attending an anime convention, so the remainder are considering putting together a team apocalypse game. The only other time we tried apocalypse was on the new years eve after the book was first released and that was a major disaster. Hopefully by now we've all got enough experience under our belts to make it work without all of the problems that plagued our first attempt.
That's it for now. I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any tips for a four to six man apocalypse game let us know!
2009 Summer League Final Match VBR
Paul's Basement League 2009 Final Match from paul mehaffey on Vimeo.
After four awesome months of painting and gaming our summer league has finally come to a close.
Since we ended up with a tie for first TQ (from www.tqstudios.com) and Jordan decided to play one final game to determine the winner. I moved the video to Vimeo since the blogger size limit was pretty fail.
